NAEYC DAP: Observing, Documenting, and Assessing Children’s Development and Learning (website) – NAEYC Developmentally Appropriate Practices Positions Statement presents practices for observation, documentation, and assessment that are developmentally appropriate for children from birth through the primary grades.
Child Observation Resources (website) – From The Head Start Early Childhood Learning & Knowledge Center, this suite of resources provides information, examples, and strategies for observing children with intention.
Play Video Library for Wisconsin Readiness Equity Network (WREN) (website) – WREN is a collaboration of the four largest urban school districts in Wisconsin, DPI, and UW-Madison. The Play Library is a collection of over 100 videos, created in partnership with the WREN districts, demonstrating play-based teaching in 4K & 5K classrooms. The videos are coded for their play type, play context, play content, and instructional support. New users must complete this form to request access to the Play Library. (google form) All requests will be reviewed once a week
Video Library for Results Matter (website) – Colorado Department of Education curates a video library designed to be used in professional development activities so that early care and education providers have an opportunity to practice observation and documentation skills.
Video Library for Desired Results Access Project (website) – From the California Department of Education, Special Education Division, this video library hosts more than 50 videos produced through a collaborative partnership in California. The videos illustrate and describe key practices and provide opportunities for practicing observation and assessment skills.
